These days, dashboard design in cars is something that usually leaves a sour taste in my mouth. This past year, I’ve been designing interfaces for touch-screens on bio-tech instruments and this sort of design has been heavily on my mind. It’s crazy how “out of touch” some of the interfaces are, especially in cars. I think this will change within the next few years, as UX is becoming more and more important. Denys Nevozhai recently took a stab at updating a dashboard design for an electric vehicle (using BMW as his model). I think it’s a great start and would love to see more of this type of work. Definitely refreshing compared to most standard designs we see in other vehicles (I’m not talking about Tesla, etc). Lots of good energy here. I’d like to see how it could be even more integrated with the navigation in the center of the dash. Something tells me this is just too busy for the drivers main dash…
